LITHIUM-ION BATTERY PACKS

Each Battery Pack which is used to Power the Medallion Transceivers contains two Lithium-Ion Power Cells. The Power Cells are connected in-Parallel to provide the maximum run time, which averages 12 to 14 hours. The Battery Packs include microelectronic circuitry, which protects the Battery Cells from overcharging and overheating. The Lithium-Ion Cells, and Protection Circuits, are enclosed in a hard plastic shell. The Battery Packs cannot be overcharged, and may be left in the Charger for extended periods. The Lithium-Ion Batteries will not develop Memory problems due to short charging cycles. Battery Packs can be fully discharged and recharged a minimum of 750 times. Partial Charges do not have an effect on the life expectancy of the Battery Pack. There are two Circular Silver-colored contacts on the end of each Battery Pack. The circular contacts are offset to one side of the Battery Case. These contacts mate with two spring-loaded contacts inside the Medallion Transceiver's Battery Compartment. Offsetting of the Contacts prevents accidental damage to the internal Microelectronics, due to Polarity reversal.  The Battery will not damage the Electronics, if it is accidentally inserted into the Medallion's Battery compartment in the wrong direction. However, it is possible to physically damage the Medallion’s spring-loaded contacts by improperly installing the Battery Pack.  We have placed directional arrows on each Battery Pack, in order to prevent improper insertion of the Battery into the Medallion's Battery Compartment.

CARE AND HANDLING

Lithium-Ion Cells are extremely reliable; however, they are very susceptible to damage from impact. Do not drop or impact the Battery Pack on a hard surface. The Cells could be damaged, and the hard plastic enclosure could break.
